The Secret Behind Writing

Wow!!!!! It's being forever since I last posted something meaningful here and I know I'm suppose to apologize and all but let's be sincere, will that change anything??
Before I go further, I will like to formally wish you all a wonderful and glorious New Year and as we are rounding up with the first month of the year, all your plans and goals will begin to fall into place in Jesus name...Amen. Happy New Year once again.
To be sincere, I feel like a stranger here because of the really long distance i gave to writing but one thing that made me decide to put something here is telling myself that if at all I'm writing to inspire people, I must not be too forward about it or be in a rush to post something everyday which is why I decided to withdraw, study life and people, get inspiration and come back on board with a burning desire to change the pattern I used to follow in writing last year.
One basic truth a writer MUST come to terms with is that there will be a moment in your writing career where you will actually hit the 'rock', I mean, go blank...incase you haven't experienced it, you certainly will but what makes a good writer is his or her ability to take advantage of the situation instead of thinking that something must be wrong with his ability to reason or think or write something meaningful.
For basic and upcoming writers like myself, there are some secrets you must know when you want to take up writing as a career or as a hobby and these are the secrets I wanna share with us. Ps..I didn't surf the net for dis..its all from inspiration and I hope it will inspire you.

1. Before you take the basic step to declare yourself a writer, you must first understand what writing is all about. I mean, you don't just jump up one hot morning and say you wanna be a writer just because your dead grandmother gave you a golden pen in your dream or you saw your face on the cover of the best selling book in your dream. If by any chance this is the reason why you wanna be a writer then I will sincerely advice you to withdraw because tho the vibe and ginger will be there the first 3 months, you will certainly crash. Ask yourself why exactly you want to be a writer, ponder on the question and if perhaps you don't have a concrete reason why you wanna be a writer then maybe writing isn't for you, try singing.

2. If you are able to pass number one of this test, I congratulate you. Here is the second secret you should know before you begin writing and that is PASSION. This is one of the kicking force that spark up your vibe when it looks like writing is boring cos to be sincere, it can be boring sometimes especially when you don't have an idea what to write about but since you have deeply considered what your reason is to be a writer then you must also consider your passion. Some people naturally have the passion for writing from their childhood while other may have to grow the passion as they grow older but it doesn't matter whether you are a natural born writer or you are a trained writer, if there is no passion, you will loose complete interest in writing. Try as much as possible to develop your passion because that's the only thing that will keep you going when the vibe is gone.

3. Welcome to the third stage. Now this stage is where most people miss and mix it and at the end they end up getting frustrated with themselves. Another basic truth you must know is that you are NOT a writer until you identify which part of writing you wanna engage in. At this point, am happy I studied literature in school. Now as you all know, there are different genres of literature; we have the prose, poetry, drama and so on. Now to be a successful writer, you MUST first identify which genre of literature works BEST for you..I don't mean the "let-me-manage-this-one" type of genre but the genre that you are happy and comfortable with. It could be creative writing, that is the stories, folktales etc, it could also be poems, inspirational or motivational writings, or maybe script writing, it could be entertainment writing like the kind of writing Linda Ikeji is into. There are other branches of writing and what works for Linda Ikeji may not work for you. I almost got it wrong at this point. When I first opened this blog, I wanted to be like Linda Ikeji who talks about entertainment and society gist but after sometime, I knew it in my heart that I was actually missing it and I decided to take a chill pill, think on what excites me the most and start a blog on that and that's how I became a mixture of both motivational/inspirational writer and a creative writer. You may enjoy gisting about celebrities and the type of house they live in, well, if it works for you, go for it. But understand that you cannot be successful in writing if you don't identify what works for you.

4. Congratulations on your new pen your grandmother gave you in the beginning. Now you are ready to be a successful writer. At this stage, there are sooo many ideas pouring into your head for you to develop. Ensure that you pick out your favourite idea and expand it...Writing is a passion, to me, its just like falling in love, once you start, you go deeper and deeper especially when it involves motivational or inspirational witeups. Whatever it is you wanna write on, start writing on it and even if it seems like you can't get your thoughts straight and you go blank midway all you have to do is to pause for a moment, stand up, walk around, make a call, drink water, and come back to continue..Once you clear your head, everything will begin to fall into place and by the time you are done writing and you actually take time to read what you have written, you will be marvelled at the level of intelligence and inspiration you displayed on paper.

One major advice I will want to share is that nobody and I mean NOBODY should feel that he or she can't be a good writer. We all are writers but the only difference is that some of us have chosen to develop that part of the gift God blessed us with and if you also choose to develop that aspect, you will even surprise yourself with what you will write about. I hope we have bin inspired by this post. Till I come your way again with another interesting topic titled....*pause* errrrmmmmm.....just keep checking the blog sha, m sure u will see another post soon....and this seems like the best thing to do....I'm sorry for being soo faraway....I can't promise that it won't happen again coz once in a while, I gats retreat too...but till den, "I'm glad to be here"...lol.
